proposal for the university of évora health hub, organised around a contemporary cloister — an active void that does not isolate, but cares for. unlike an architecture that imposes itself through form, the cloister is defined by what it surrounds and leaves untouched: four sides, a winding path, a centre that endures. the complex receives a piece of alentejo territory — native trees, meadows and granite batholiths — and seeks to occupy it without violating it, fitting courtyards and routes into the rock outcrops and keeping the changes in level. the programme articulates theoretical and practical teaching, laboratories, departments, administration, community outreach and two parking pools, one of them next to the new évora hospital. the result balances solid and void, in a building inhabited in silence.
